Polymorphisms in drug-metabolizing enzymes, drug transporters, and major histocompatibility complex genes lead to significant inter-individual differences in drug efficacy and safety. The patterns and complexities of these variations vary across populations. In close collaboration, experts from IKP and Karolinska have collected and reviewed an extensive data set to create an easily accessible, interactive website. The site PharmFreq serves as a global repository of pharmacogenetic frequency data from over 10 million individuals across worldwide more than half of the countries, aggregating information on pharmacogenomic alleles from more than 1,200 studies. This platform enables users to easily explore pharmacogenetic diversity and supports research in underrepresented populations.

Key Findings
The accompanying manuscript (available as a PDF or via DOI) reveals that the majority of studies focus primarily on East Asian and European populations. The number of studies conducted in each country correlates with population size and GDP, highlighting significant coverage disparities. Additionally, the paper outlines various use cases demonstrating the resource's utility for the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics and research initiatives.
