Personalized medicine as key to targeted therapy

The Dr. Margarete Fischer-Bosch Institute of Clinical Pharmacology (IKP) conducts research at the Bosch Health Campus on improving drug therapy. It is considered the largest scientific research unit in the field of clinical pharmacology in Germany and enjoys a high international reputation.

Our core tasks

Pharmacogenomics and implementation of the latest findings into clinics and practices
Identification of new drug targets, taking into account innovative -omics technologies for the individualization of drug therapy
Provision of state-of-the-art and high- end human model systems for drug research and therapy optimization
Training center for clinical pharmacology with an international reputation

Core Facilities

Chemical Analytics & Synthesis

Main focus of the department is quantitative, mass spectrometric analysis. Analytical methods for quantification have been developed for more than 100 different drugs and metabolites, being used primarily for pharmacokinetic studies and for in vitro investigations of enzyme kinetics and drug transport.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials are of great importance for medical progress and are an indispensable part of being able to better assess the effectiveness and tolerability of drugs. This requires drug studies to be carried out with volunteers (= healthy study participants).
